Forgive yourself for not knowing what you didn't know before you learned it.  - Maya Angelou

You are here to have someone to talk to and process what is happening to you. You are here to improve your mood and coping strategies. You are here to reconnect with yourself and learn to live your life with quality, hope, meaning, and power.

The reasons you come to therapy often involve various emotions, such as sadness, anxiety, and grief, experiences, and expectations you have for yourself and your life. This is why therapy can be essential for you in helping you learn tools and strategies to cope and manage in less stressful and more beneficial ways.

Below are links for more information about my specialties (areas of focus):

Chronic or Serious Illness

Are you experiencing anxiety, sadness, worry, or anger because of the news about an illness or medical condition? Do you feel confused and overwhelmed with medical decisions and the impact these may have on your life? Are you a caregiver of someone with a chronic or serious illness and feeling overwhelmed and helpless?

Changes will occur based on this illness or condition, but these changes do not have to turn your life upside down and they do not have to alter who you are. Contact me to discover ways to adjust to and improve your quality of life through exploring emotions and thoughts, to increase the tools and strategies to improve coping, and to re-establish meaning and purpose.

Why am I fit to help you? Through an eclectic approach tailored to you, I will help you navigate this path to wholeness by facilitating evidence-based interventions in cognitive, existential, and strength-based approaches.

Grief and Loss

Are you feeling stuck in a place of worry and sadness from a loss? Are you focused on what life was like before the loss and unsure what life can be like now and in the future? No matter the loss, suffering can cease when you connect with hope and meaning.

Grief is a normal reaction to any kind of loss. It is a very personal and individual experience. You do not have to stay in this place of disconnection and uncertainty. Contact me to discover ways to heal and transform beyond grief and loss through exploring emotions and thoughts, recognizing the impacts and beliefs around grief and loss, acknowledging the significance of this loss on your life, and learning tools and strategies to help you move from pain to acceptance and freedom.

Why am I fit to help you? Besides experiencing grief and loss personally, I have worked with individuals facing various losses and the impacts these have on their daily lives. I bring specific tools and strategies for you to help with adjustment and acceptance of the loss through mindfulness and regulation techniques, processing strategies like writing and communication, and other coping skills for feelings of overwhelm and worry.

Trauma

Have you experienced a traumatic or distressing event that continues to haunt you at every turn? Do these experiences impact your daily functioning and how you feel and think about yourself? You are a representation of your history, like a ball of yarn, but you do not have to live your history. You can unravel the pain and suffering into a different narrative of beauty, growth, and peace.

Discover ways to get unstuck from what keeps you embedded in your past. These lived experiences can show up in all aspects of your life and can often complicate your path when faced with chronic or serious illness or grief and loss. Your experience is individual and may be a result of something you experienced firsthand or witnessed or something someone close to you shared; it may be a result of an assault or violent act or an accident or disaster; or it may be your experience as a first responder or military personnel. These events often involve an emotional response and thoughts that may create interferences in how you view yourself, others, and the world around you.

Therapy can help you understand why you react the way you do and learn tools and strategies to manage these reactions in a healthy, balanced way. It can also introduce you to new ways of thinking about yourself that improve self-esteem and connections with others.

Why am I fit to help you? I am a trauma-informed practitioner with specialized skills and knowledge to support and guide you in your recovery. I will use cognitive approaches along with other emotion regulating techniques so you can discover the best version of yourself.
